Figurative Bust Sculpture

What the world wants vs what I want
Air Dry Clay, paint, and wire.
Left Sculpture: 5"X4"x5" Right sculpture 2"x10'"x 3"

This work is a reflection of the oppression I feel from the world. The oppression from my own desires. The world likes to place expectations on the younger generation. The expectation of being a good student, going to college, getting a job, paying taxes and then dying. What if there is so much more to life than being the "ideal citizen", or being a "normal" functioning member to society. The human figure sculpture is chained by the waist and crowned by the weight of worldly expectations. This expressed through the spherical shapes. The wire is the choke hold that this world has me in. The second sculpture is split in 2. the humanoid figure is me turning my back on what this world wants for me and on the other side are spheres and cubes that represent what the norm is.
