Cabinet of curiosity

Image
"My gardens"  Wood, foam board, twill, marbles 16"  x 14"  x 10" .     The concept for this sculpture was influenced by cabinets of curiosity. is representative of an obsession with the collection of flowers and botanicals. The artifacts within the cabinet are marble gardens. One garden is welcoming and organically shaped and the other is shard, rigid and protective. People all over the world plant flowers and create their own unique garden, one is never the same as another. With these gardens I have created I hope to communicate the 2 main different sides of me. I am welcoming caring and very much "go with the flow" but on the other side of the coin I can be very mean, closed off and unwelcoming to new things.

"safe in here" Marble, wood, wood stain.  3" x 1.5" x 1 Growing up with adhd was one of the hardest things I had to overcome. The constant need for stimulation was crippling and affected me and those around me. One of my favorite pastimes was playing with marbles and climbing trees in order to feel stimulated. This sculpture embodies all of the things i used to love as a little boy and reminds me of all the times I would escape to climb a tree and my obsession of holding and playing with marbles which gave me comfort.

The hollowness of his head shows that his head is becoming more and more empty of the things that matter like in person human interaction.  "LOOK" Air dry clay, wood, black paint.  8" x 12" x 4" Eye contact is one of the most important indicators in body language. The way someone looks at you or does not can change a whole conversation or the feeling of it. The eyes on this sculpture are looking in different directions which is representative of what a lot of people's eyes do when they are nervous during conversations. When eye contact is not c

Onlonging

"The souvenir speaks to a context of origin through a language of longing" Experiencing someone is one of the greatest gifts God gave man. But one of the greatest pains is the loss that comes with the knowing someone. Loss can occur by death or the cutting of ties within any kind of relationship. What remains are the memories in your head that slowly begin to fade with the years. But sometimes the process of losing someone is what teaches us to cherish moments we create in the present. But me, I'm forever stuck in the past missing her.  "The souvenir exists as a sample of the now distant experience that only the object can evoke" Would you be able to choose a cover photo for one of the darkest and loneliest periods of your life? Luke Skywalker had a promising life before his fall and he had everything to be grateful for but the desire of power corrupted him, causing him to lose his wife his new kin and most importantly himself. Power is sometimes pursued to pr
